Starting professional grooming between 8 and 16 weeks sets the foundation for a lifetime of stress-free salon visits. Puppies introduced to bathing, handling, and drying early are far less anxious during adult grooming — saving you time, money, and your pup unnecessary stress. Early grooming builds trust, not trauma.

Every puppy grooming appointment at Brandy's Pampered Pets includes a gentle bath with puppy-safe shampoo, blow-dry, nail trim, ear inspection, brushing, and a breed-appropriate trim if the coat is ready. Sessions are paced to your pup's comfort level — we never rush a first-timer.
Tear-free, gentle-formula shampoo matched to your puppy's coat type and skin sensitivity.
We use a low-heat, low-noise dryer technique to help puppies acclimate without fear.
Face, paws, and sanitary trims to get puppies comfortable with the sensation of scissors.
Gentle nail clipping included with every appointment — we'll start slow for nail-shy pups.
We clean and inspect ears for early signs of buildup or irritation at every visit.
Treats, praise, and patience throughout — your pup leaves with a good memory of the salon.
Most puppies are ready for their first bath between 8 and 10 weeks, their first trim at 12–16 weeks, and a full grooming session at 16 weeks and beyond. Vaccine timing matters — always confirm with your vet before visiting a salon. Brandy's follows a 3-stage introduction approach designed to keep every milestone positive.
A gentle warm bath with puppy shampoo, light blow-dry, and basic brushing. No scissors. Pure acclimation — we want your pup to leave happy and unafraid.
Once vaccinations are in progress, we add an introductory scissor trim to the face, paws, and sanitary areas. Nail trim included. The session is kept shorter to avoid overwhelm.
Full bath, breed-appropriate haircut, nail trim, ear cleaning, and blow-dry. Your puppy is now ready for a complete regular grooming routine — typically every 6–8 weeks.
Brandy uses a structured desensitization approach — shorter first sessions, frequent positive reinforcement, and never forcing a puppy through fear. If a pup signals distress, we pause and reset. It takes a little longer the first few visits, but it makes every future visit easier and safer for everyone.
Puppies are allowed to sniff, explore, and relax in the salon before any grooming begins.
We handle paws, ears, and face slowly — building trust before touching with tools.
Treats and praise are given consistently. We associate every tool with something good.
First visits are intentionally shorter. We build up to full grooms over 2–3 visits.
Puppies can have their first bath as early as 8–10 weeks, once their initial vaccinations are underway. We recommend waiting until 12–16 weeks for their first haircut. Always check with your vet about vaccine status before your pup's first salon visit.
We go slowly, use gentle handling, and give puppies plenty of praise throughout the session. Most puppies adjust quickly once they associate grooming with positive attention. Introductory sessions are shorter to prevent overwhelm.
Puppy grooming starts around $35–45 for small breeds and $55–70 for larger pups, depending on coat condition and services included. We offer a first-time puppy discount — ask when booking.
Every 6–8 weeks is ideal for most breeds to establish a routine early. Long-coated or fast-growing breeds (Poodles, Doodles, Shih Tzus) benefit from grooming every 4–6 weeks to prevent matting as their adult coat develops.
Bring proof of recent vaccinations (we require up-to-date Bordetella, DHPP, and rabies per age), any health information we should know, and your pup's favorite treat if they have one. Arrive a few minutes early so your puppy can sniff and settle before we begin.
